What is WatchTogether?
WatchTogether is an app for watching videos together. Download it, open your invite and stay in sync while the conversation keeps going.
Is it free?
Yes. The app, synchronized playback, shared playlists and room chat are free. There is no subscription or checkout.
How do I join a room?
Download the WatchTogether app and sign in. Open the invite your host shared. Rooms are created by WatchTogether administrators.
Which videos can we watch?
YouTube videos, Shorts and supported live streams, plus direct MP4, WebM and OGG video URLs. The source must allow playback in your browser. DRM-protected services such as Netflix and Disney+ are not integrated.
How does synchronization work?
The host’s play, pause and seek actions are shared with the room. Other viewers receive updates approximately every two seconds. The host can give everyone playback control. Small differences can occur due to network latency.
Who can manage my account?
You can update your profile and password in My account. WatchTogether Administrators can manage accounts, roles, sessions and room activity from the administration workspace.
Can friends join from another device?
Yes. Everyone logs into their own account and opens the room invite. For a local installation, use the server computer’s network IP address instead of localhost.
Does WatchTogether include voice chat?
Room text chat is built in. For voice calls, you can use Discord or your favorite calling app alongside WatchTogether.
